Your ex sounds like a nightmare. Not a compatible couple, I'd suggest. I had a similar experience when I trotted over the road to welcome a German family who'd moved in opposite. We're both white. I live in England.

I went to say hello and introduce myself. They looked at me like I had two heads and declined to exchange pleasantries.

Maybe it was a difficult day for them, but they've improved slightly since. Not much though. LOL

Probably nothing to do with colour.
