Your daughter sounds like she's mastered the art of speed reading. I wonder how much of it she absorbs, and how that compares to how much a normal reader absorbs. The idea of being able to get through books more quickly certainly has some appeal. I believe the explanation of Medium's definition of a read is correct, but fortunately, you still get paid for 'views', so it doesn't really matter.
