Your childhood sounded so idyllic, until I got to the drunk father part. We never went to the movies. My parents took us once, when I was 15, to see the Care Bears of all things - because my little sister wanted to see it. That was it. I felt really left out at school, as the only kid who never saw the films that everyone was talking about. But then, I didn't have a drunk father - just a sober bully. So, I guess we all have our crosses to bear.

I'm glad you still enjoy the movies, but sorry for that experience. I now have a cinema system at home, so we can indulge whenever the mood takes us. No empty seats, no late arrivals, no annoying chatter, no smokers, vapers, or seat kickers. Just us.
