You might not be screwed. Just check the licences are OK. You might have complied with the rules if you used CC images and copied and pasted the attribution line that comes up in a pop up box when you download them. Some sites try to make it easy. I hope this hasn't ruined your day. On true crime, you might find images fall under fair use laws, but I'm no expert on that and it's a grey area, so I tend to avoid them.
