Yes, they were there for 13 years and they made a huge fuss when the agent tried to raise the rent by 5% after 5 years of no increases. That's when we thought, well this is crap. If they can't manage to budget for a 5% rise in one go, and we're only going to get a 1% increase per year anyway, we might as well have it cumulative. And so 1% per annum was written into the contract. I now wish I'd demanded inflationary rises from the outset regardless of the agent's opinion.
