Yeah, it's taken five months to get to where we're at now. The foundations are old because it's a 1900s house, so the style of construction is very different to how it would be if a similar place was built now. The old houses fetch a lower price for that reason. We're just keen to sell now. The returns were never what we'd hoped for, usually around 4% (and these days you can do better than that in a bank account), so there's little incentive to let. The value of the house hasn't even kept up with inflation. But we do need to sell and the buyer has just pulled out for reasons that have nothing to do with the house, so that's so frustrating as we head into autumn and winter. Keen to sell up and move on now.
