When an issue was raised with Unsplash after a copyright troll case, they just said it wasn't covered by their licence because it had a recognisable person in the pic.

If you dig into their licences and terms, they offer no guarantees and actually suggest you contact the photographer if you want reassurances.

I remember this from when I was proposing to use images from Pixabay in a book and the publisher wanted me to personally guarantee the photos. I did a deep dig into the licencing terms and that made me do an about turn and take my own photos instead.

They're relying on honesty and that sometimes doesn't work.
