What Kind of Weirdness is This? Who Puts Brackets in Their Headings?

Except I didn’t. My work’s been edited, and I’m torn. Should I delete those brackets (below)? I did delete them, then reinstated them when I realised the editors had made my story their featured story at the top of the page! That’s really nice!

I didn’t want to be disrespectful, or ungrateful for being the featured story, so I lived with the brackets for a week before changing them and hoping no one notices!

But at what point does some strange idiosyncrasy, which I imagine comes from a grammar app, overstep the mark? I’ve got to say, I think brackets in headings are a bit odd.

Now I might’ve dropped into the editor’s messages and asked, ‘how important are those brackets to you?’ But there are bigger things to worry about. So here’s my story…
