We stopped doing cards to everyone years ago, and would send emails with a newsletter instead, if they were online. My auntie Rita was an exception because she didn't have a computer and I always sent her a thank you letter for my birthday present with her Christmas card. She didn't get my last thank you letter because it was literally waiting to be posted when I got the news that she'd suddenly died, completely out of the blue.

Anyway, that was two years ago. I still have the last birthday card she sent me. It's up again this year. I know if she was alive, she would send me a new one, so that's my way of remembering her, and knowing that she'd still want me to have a happy birthday, Christmas, and a happy new year. With warm memories.
