We get a good BBC signal here and enjoy the programmes, so it's no big deal. If it was a subscription service, we'd probably opt to subscribe. But I can see the argument that you should have a choice - and if you can't pick up the signal that's a whole other matter!

I recently questioned on Twitter whether Brits should be paying for the BBC World Service. I got ripped to shreds. Won't ask that again.

I have to admit, at the time, I'd stumbled across the information that it's broadcast in 40-something languages, and I thought it was all televised. Apparently, most of it is actually radio.

Anyway, apparently Brits feel strongly that we should pay for other countries to get BBC news. One of my frustrations was that those of us who pay for it cannot access it, but apparently you can. I just can't figure out how - the freeview channel they claimed it was on isn't on my set! I've given up.

And offended the whole of Twitter.
