Usually they'll only consider unpublished work, so it should never have been online at all. Saying that, sometimes if a piece has appeared in a small niche publication, they'll consider it, or if it's only had 7 views - which is akin to no one seeing it, they might make exceptions. Also, if stuff was published 12 years ago in a niche military magazine I reckon, for the most part, no one will remember.
