Two things - yes animals can be gay - male ducks bonk each other from time to time. But also, one animal mounting another is dominance behaviour, to workout a hierarchy. Who's in charge. My boy guinea pigs do it. Giraffes do it. Lots of animals do it to identify a pecking order - who's the top dog. In charge. But yes, it's also possible they're gay.
