This is what the IPCC predicted in the report I read at the time. I know there are other possibilities, but a wide number of organisations were predicting warming. I remember seeing a National Trust leaflet showing how their gardens would change from grass to gravel, from deciduous trees to palm trees. Either way, there will be problems and unpleasantries, and I would say this scenario is already playing out, with water shortages and a killer heatwave in 2022…

But yeah, if the weather patterns get weirder, we could be launched into cold instead. I get a sense they think this is less likely. It was originally written for a British audience.
