This is interesting. It reminds me of a time when dad decided to join a book club. I loved books, but didn't have many. Sometimes I received a book as a Christmas gift from a relative, and I spent my paper round money on them, but it only paid £2.

Anyway, dad's membership of this book club came with free books. He offered me one, and I was so excited to get a new book... Up until the day of the delivery, when my book wasn't there.

He said he'd decided that my choice was a waste, because no-one reads a novel more than once. But in that box was a novel for my sister. Anyway, I was soooo disappointed.

And I've read my favourite novel at least three times. SO THERE! :-)

Sorry you had a horrible time.

These days, I'm more bothered about the impact of useless gifts in an environmental crisis... but that's a different story. :-s
