These were publications from about 1930s to 1970s, so while it maybe they're unlikely to be followed up by a lawsuit, asking the copyright holder for permission, declining to pay the fee, and then using an image from their range anyway, seemed particularly risky. 😬

Of course, there were models, adverts, and all sorts, with images belonging to all sorts of people. As copyright expires 70 years after someone's death, the likelihood is they're all still in copyright.
