There was a girl who I befriended while I was at primary middle school. She went to a different school to me. I used to tell her about the bullies and she sympathised and asked, why do they bully you? We were friends.

Age 12, we both moved to secondary school and I ended up in the same year in the same school. She joined the bully gang and was utterly horrible to me. I don't know why. I asked them. They laughed in my face. People can be horrible.

But because she'd been my friend and confidante, her behaviour was particularly memorable.
