The weird thing here was that there was no duplicate online anywhere. It had been published under my name in a print magazine a year earlier, but this was the first time it was offered online.

She later explained that because I'd added the author's websites, as a courtesy to them for cooperating with me, that she assumed the websites were the source of the quotes. That I'd done a cut and paste, rather than interviewed the authors at all.

But she didn't check the websites or ask for clarity. Just rejected the story. Oh well.
