The waterways in the UK are drained to the point of causing problems to wildlife every summer. Chalk streams dry up completely, and some waterways that used to have plentiful water now dry up because the water companies take all the water to feed our unending demand for it. Fortunately, at the moment, there has been so much rain, I think we'll probably be fine for the rest of this summer - so that's a plus from the grotty weather.
