The UK's experiencing drought too, although we've had some rain today. Even before the drought, we'd save water, just to help the environment. We have buckets around the house - a bucket of cold water is collected as the shower warms up, before we step into the shower. This is used to flush the loo. We have under sink reverse osmosis. This produces waste water, which we collect in a tank and buckets. This is used to fill the washing machine when it's on a refill cycle. We also have a bowl in the sink to collect water from hand washing, which is used to flush the loo (that's an added extra because of the drought - not a normal state of affairs). There's a cup in the bathroom, so I don't run the water more than necessary while doing my teeth. It all helps!
