That's a good tip. We weren't in control of the process. They had references, but I don't know who from. Probably his mum. When they moved in, we were under the impression that they were a young couple who might've just moved out of mum and dad's. I think the worst of the problem started when they had pets. But now I realise they're maybe late 30s, they probably did have some history - whether it was this bad, before the 4 pets and 3 children stage, I don't know. I suspect not.

We let the place to two adults with a baby and no pets.
