I think I'd taken away the comment that "Medium encourages Nommers to focus closely on their own publications" and pretty much thought that meant the door was closed on anything else - unless they were desperate.

I thought the interview piece had potential, but was not my strongest prospect for a boost. It just suited your publication and seemed worth a punt, so thanks for trying.

It's hard not to conclude that selecting the right the publication is perhaps more important than the boostability of the content though.
