Sounds like you've got yourself into a great position. My uncle said he'd never been better off than when he got his pension. 🤣

I don't blame you quitting work if circumstances are awful. I just dislike ending up paying the bill for people who probably get more on benefits than I do working!

You are right, of course, there are lots of people with good reasons - parenthood being an excellent one.

Trouble is, those people working aren't always having a great time either, and as you say, the financial benefit is marginal. I've just never worked out how to get benefits, so I've always been at the low-waged paying end, which hurts - never the beneficiary. Well, I got £2 once.
