Someone told me recently that Tony had said Medium is close to entering profitability - next year maybe, I can't remember. So, they've been running at a loss, I assume, and have been trying to claw back revenues, to get the company into a better financial position. This must have impacted writers' earnings.

The move to offer membership at a higher rate for those who want to pay it is a nice way to boost writers' incomes, without enforcing an increase on everyone. I think it's a good move, which will hopefully mean we can all look forward to a few more readies at the end of the month.
