Quite aside from localised damage and environmental degradation, I've felt this was just bad for the environment from the outset. I mean, it's another oil field, at a time when we should be shutting them down in favour of renewables. but as a poor country, I cannot blame them for wanting to extract the wealth. It's a really screwed up world, because countries like Africa will suffer the most from the effects of climate change.
