Once you cross the £1000 threshold you have to register as self-employed and pay tax. If you're already registered as self-employed, as I am in journalism, I'm just saying the side hustles are supposed to be added to your total earnings, and declared as extra income. It's unlikely that an already self-employed person would be just on the threshold, but it's possible, I suppose.
