Oh yes, there's definitely a strong appetite on here for raw emotion too. One of my best performing stories last month was a little like that, although I didn't consider it particularly raw. But lots of people related to it.

Medium no longer recommends a lot of those money stories to me now. I think the key is to click on 'less like this' and try not to engage with them. This trains the algorithm to show you other stuff instead. There's a lot of memoir on here. The Memorist publication and the Narrative Arc are worth looking at.
