Oh, that's interesting. James told me: "Medium encourages Nommers to focus closely on their own publications" - so I thought that was what was happening. And took it as a knock back that my best stories would not be considered because they hadn't been placed in the right publications, and the nominators would not look outside of them unless they were desperate.
It's interesting to hear you're looking for topics within your specialism. Does that explain why my best stories go under your radar? I did publish a list of ones that I felt had boost potential for anyone looking to make up their quota, but it's been 100% ineffective.
Boosters say it's hard to find stories, but I can deliver boost-worthy stories regularly, if only nominators would read them. They don't read them. Not even when I place them in nominating publications. The smaller ones might, but I've only realised that is necessary in recent days.
There's no point me putting stuff on here that then means I can't offer the stories to magazines if they're not going to get traction. Because once something appears online, magazines won't touch it. So I have to be careful about putting my best stuff up. Also, it gets plagiarised sometimes, so I completely lose control.
People seem to want to read about Medium, so I figure I'll do that for a bit while I work out a forward plan.
The guy who brought me to Medium was making $3k years ago, with bonuses and things and I'd hoped with perseverance I could scale it up, but I'm starting to wonder.
Good to hear your feedback. Thanks Rodrigo. I appreciate it. But you know, if the editor of BBB is struggling to find high quality boostable stories, he needs to only read some of the ones I've submitted there in recent months. Same with Illumination Curated.
Bottom line is I hear nominators complaining about how hard it is, so I try to offer some great stuff to help us both, and they literally won't read my best stories. I’m giving them topical nommable stories on a platter and the boost nominators won’t even read the ones submitted to their own publications.
I get it if you’re only interested in photography — my nommable stories are not on photography. LOL explains one thing. 😄
So I'll just write some shit about Medium because at least it earns more than $1.
