Now that we all have access to photo editing software, and as you say, not much is left without a little extra enhancement before it goes on sale, I think it's fair to tell someone that.
If she felt some pics looked unreal, perhaps they did, I don't know. Maybe the scenery was so mindblowing in real life, it looked unreal for real. LOL
But explaining that you enhanced it to bring out the best of the colours etc, should be enough. I mean, you could show her the raw file, and then she would understand, because the raw file would be greyer than reality and lack the zing that you're trying to put back in with your editing. You could explain that too, if you wanted to. No harm done. I mean, everyone has to learn. I did.
It strikes me as a fair question for someone to ask - just sounds like she went on about it a bit too long!
I shoot jpegs because I'm an amateur who's selling shots but still learning. And I don't have lightroom, and don't really know what to do with a raw shot anyway!
Photoshop enables me to lighten and add a little contrast to my jpegs, if I want to.
