Not many people get pitch opportunities - as in a call to pitch. Mostly, we're just going in cold every day, until someone says yes. You don't need qualifications to write articles. You just need to know your subject and have a good idea, or a good interviewee. And be able to write a decent article, obviously. Hopefully something will come your way. I had a friend to found work on Upwork - that might be worth exploring.
