I'm a professional writer for magazines and since the pandemic, work has been slow, so I've looked at online options for more work.
I probably spend far too much time on here, but I find Medium is different from what I do commercially. The stuff I do for magazines rarely does well on here.
First person stories might do better. My best performing stories have been on copyright issues.
But overall, the pay isn't good here. It's probably not good use of your time if you can get the income from elsewhere. I think you have to enjoy it. I'm a bit addicted.
