No. They'd downloaded them from the stock photography site and should have paid the stock photography site. It was a transaction between the two of them that needed completing. But I suppose speaking to the editor might have made a point! I suspect the editor wouldn't have wanted to speak to me. I'm a freelance writer and it's usually very difficult to get hold of anyone at the newspapers.
