No. The response was not that bad. No you're not rude. You're opinionated. That's different and we can all choose to just selectively agree with the bits we agree with, or argue back, if we want to, without turning to insults.

Perhaps the author thinks time spent in the industry is irrelevant. That would be an appropriate response. You're entitled to your opinion. They are entitled to theirs.

Some people are just too easily offended.

The only bit that strikes me as a little bit *ouch* is the end statement to, 'do a little research before you write'. The rest is presenting facts, with a sprinkling of opinion.

But I'm not saying you're wrong to end with that statement. It's kind of obvious that they haven't done their research from your argument though, so I guess leaving that bit out might have been softer/less offensive.

But you're right of course - we should all check facts before we publish.

If you'd said that to me, I probably would have felt the slap round the face, reading that last sentence. But I would also have considered the facts, checked, and then come back to you saying, "Oh silly me! Thank you so much for pointing this out to me!"
