My experience of antibiotics is that they caused a fungal infection that is untreatable and has been the bane of my life for the past 20 years. The crazy thing is, I was very resistant to taking antibiotics, but doctors repeatedly threatened me. One memorably said, if I didn't take 'preventative' antibiotics before a bladder examination, then I'd get an infection and have to take them for a week afterwards. This was despite me being assured by a nurse, weeks before the appointment, that I wouldn't have to take them. It made my fungal infection spread.

I'm pleased to hear that the policy has now changed, but it's too late for me. Even then, they knew antibiotic resistance was a huge problem, but they still put pressure on people to take antibiotics for everything. And they don't seem to believe in fungal infections in a big way.
