It's very difficult to level the playing field completely. Everyone has different circumstances and different strengths, even within the same family. If you rub people up the wrong way because, I dunno, you're autistic or something or just lack social skills, that's going to put you at a huge disadvantage, even compared to someone who's less well off but oozes charisma and has the gift of the gab.
