It sounds like you've got a comfortable life with the right priorities now. Sorry the GIS job never came. I did a 3 year psychology degree (not mentioned here) and couldn't get a job in it, which is why I ended up doing marketing instead. I did enjoy doing the degree though, so it's ups and downs.
