It must be difficult to separate things out and tell what’s related to race and what’s just people being people. I’ve often thought, if the bullying I endured as a child, and the difficulties I had trying to find employment, had been experienced by someone with darker skin, I might have been inclined to think that *that* had something to do with it. But as it is, I still had those experiences.

I’m glad you’ve had some successes talking about this and changing minds. Shame it doesn’t seem to work in both directions though. I think there’s plenty of narrative about it around — certainly with regards to the countryside issue.
