In the UK the deposit is held by an independent body which deals with arbitration, but anyway, they've now agreed we can keep the deposit, so it doesn't need to go to arbitration. That's £66 to the oven cleaner and £384 towards our redecorating costs. A bit shit really, but we don't really want to take it further. We feel they should buy a new kitchen, but it isn't going to happen, and it is nearly 20 years old, which means they'd argue it's had its time anyway. We will buy a new cabinet under the sink and hope it passes as good enough for a quick sale when we've finished redecorating.
