I'm outraged by it too. But I try not to worry about it. I don't put anything online that I may be able to sell elsewhere - saying that, I've just sent a Halloween piece into a publication, parts of which could be used elsewhere, but I want to use it here, so I'll take my chances. The annoying thing is that I even have to think about whether I'm prepared to lose that exclusivity for a few dollar reads. It shouldn't be a question we have to answer every time we want to press publish.
