I'm no expert, but I've done online advertising before and I think you're mistaken about what the terms mean. Impressions are the number of times that your articles are shown to possible readers. These are stories that are shown, but may not be clicked on.

Views are what happens when people click through to your story and view it. They don't distinguish between a view and a read. On Medium, the read is where you scroll to the bottom. It doesn't look like Newsbreak records that level of data.
