I'd not come across this, but I feel as you did before the new rules. I think people who vote for our government should live here. After all, if the voters cock it up, it's those of us who live here who have to put up with the consequences. In reality, I suspect the numbers of expats who want a say in what I am and am not allowed to do in my country are probably not that vast in number compared to the overall electorate. I suspect they won't make much difference to how it goes.
