I'd always expected yearly boosters. We knew it mutates, but I didn't expect to have to have a third one, and wasn't delighted.

Hospitalisations and deaths have fallen dramatically because of the vaccine programme. I'm certain the overall effect is positive. They reduce severity of the disease and that's more beneficial in older people who are more likely to get severe illness and die. If you looked at the ages of the people who were dying, you'd find age is a stronger predictor than vaccination status.

There's a government compensation scheme, but it's not flawless. And arguably isn't good enough.

It wouldn't surprise me if they decide not to offer vaccinations to some younger age groups going forward, as it doesn't seem to do much to stop the spread.
