I used to want to go exploring in the Amazon Rainforest. I have since read books and watched DVDs of people who've done that. There are no paths, you need a machette. It's wet, dangerous, and uncomfortable. I think the reality check has managed my aspirations. I'll maybe go to the Grand Canyon one day instead, and we'll see about exploring a rainforest.
