I totally see what you mean. I wonder whether the top down approach will work though, if the ordinary people aren't convinced. Much of the consumption is by ordinary people. Won't they just vote out any government who tries to force things they don't like?
I think Greta's point is that it needs to come from both directions - up and down. Perhaps in such a way that is attractive to voters, so it's not a horrible transition, and that's a big challenge for our leaders.
But if Jo Public are at least open to change, it would help. I'm not sure there are enough people at the bottom really committed to making change. If there were, wouldn't we be seeing it in more people making greener choices? It's a slow move, at the moment, and not enough.
