I think when these thigns happen it often gives people a completely new outlook, blank canvas and an opportunity that it's difficult to jack a job in for because of the risk. But my job was going anyway, so it was just a question of taking a severance package now, or get kicked out later. They might have found me another position in between. Or they might not have!
