I think the short fiction market is the hardest because you've got to write the thing in full first, and then they're sometimes looking for something different anyway.... different word counts, twists, something that isn't what you've done. I gave up on short fiction.

At least with non-fiction, you send an idea and when it's ignored or rejected, you haven't written the whole thing.
