I think the idea that you MUST tip is ridiculous. If people want to, that's up to them, but as someone who spent most of my life working in very low paid positions that weren't in service industries, there were no tips. Shit pay was shit pay. BUT I was still expected to pay out tips to other people if I ever went out, which I didn't much, but you know, when I did, I wanted it to be *cheap*. Because we're not all earning a fortune.

On Medium, I’ve enabled the tipping function if anyone feels they WANT to, but I absolutely do not expect anything. And I’m very grateful and surprised if anything comes through.
