I struggle with the same thing. I want to do better, beat last month - think that's unlikely this month, but I'd like to do as well as I can. I do think it fills a social gap, which is great, but as you say, there's no need to be on here all day for that.

And being on here all day is a problem, because I'm not focussed on the work I should be doing, because I'm seeking the next bit of virality or something, to make me feel like I'm achieving my goal. I'm not sure it's healthy.

The best way to get away is to step away from the screen altogether. What I find most difficult is ignoring Medium while I'm supposed to be working, because I just want to keep checking and responding, and before i know it, it's 11am and I haven't done anything. 🙄
