I struggle to know what to send to some publications because of just this. Today I submitted to Modern Women because it's about being a woman and workplace discrimination. Clear purpose, but other publications that are small and have no niche can be a struggle. Fuck Niches get my more outlandish general interest topics because the name works for those. Illumination get things that I want published quickly to a large audience - because they deliver on both of those. But small pubs with no niche are a struggle.
