I opened the publication to join the boost nomination program and was then rejected. I don't feel I want to grow it as I need to spend less time on Medium, not more, unless I can make it pay better, so it's a balance of time and opportunity that isn't going to pay off.
Also, I'm uncomfortable about risks as explained in the submission guidelines. I don't really know whether the Christmas songs on YouTube have the right copyright permissions, so there are possible risks with every story. And I'm not insured as a publisher.
If I can't access the boost program, and there's no financial incentive to continuing, I don't want to grow this. I opened it to join the boost program and failed. I tried. Now I need to focus on the magazine work! 😂🤣
On the upside, at least I tried. I had thought about switching to a different niche and reapplying in the new year, but the boost program is now closed to new applicants. So that was the nail in the coffin to that idea.
If they reopen to new applicants, I might switch to a focus on pets and animals, and reapply. Then I'll tell people what we're doing. Until then, I'll keep it low key. 😄
I don't want to close it altogether.
