I noted on a shortform piece I published recently- someone complained it started well and just stopped. Well, shortform only allows 150 words, and I wasn't sure that elaborating on the subject would bring more reads, so I took the easy route and sent it to a shortform publication.
You noted it was the Tik Tok of Medium - fair point. I added a link to an article that expanded on the subject for anyone who was truly interested in pain management for themselves. The person who'd complained didn't seem interested, even though I alerted them to fixing the problem in my reply. :)
As it was, the short article didn't get much traction. The longer one that solved the readers problem got even less. My shortform piece wouldn't have done better if it had been longer. This is why people keep things short. We all only have so much time.
